Red Lily

Marshy lands, mud and water,

A field barren, in Upper Slaughter,

Yet a single red lily blooms,

to set ablaze the gloom;

The small spot of light floods the ground,

and pours over into the sky, all around;

The blaze turns slowly to just light & warmth,

a golden aura transforms into green swathes;

Small cute animals, rabbits and squirrels,

Colorful flowers, blue, yellow, orange and purple;

But who stands at the heart of it all,

Pumping out life everywhere in a sprawl?

The red lily it is, with it’s brilliant crimson hue,

I see clearly now, and find my passion too,

In her embrace I find my true home,

for Bea is the red lily, my love, and my own;
